Your dog, cut from a photo. The ears, the coat line and the shape of the head are what make it look like the actual animal rather than a breed silhouette.

Send a clear side-on or front-on photo and we will draw it up and send it back for you to approve. The price depends on the coat, because a smooth-coated dog and a shaggy one are different jobs.

Drawn against an adult of about 1750mm. Sizes are the longest edge and vary a little — each one is cut by hand.

Finishes and weathering

Corten weathering steel is what most of our work is cut from. It arrives raw and grey, rusts back to a deep orange over a few months outside, and then holds that colour. The rust is the finish, not a fault, and it will not eat through the plate.

Painted is the next most common — a metal primer undercoat and two top coats of metal shield. Tell us the colour you are after and we will price it.

A few budget garden pieces are cut from corrugated iron, which keeps the ripple so the piece reads differently depending on where the light is coming from.

Steel runs from 1.6mm on smaller pieces up to 4mm on life-size figures and bench seats, with the majority of work in 2mm.

Mounting

Wall pieces come ready to hang. Garden pieces come with a spike so you can push them straight into the ground.

If a piece can go either way and you want the spike on it, say so when you order. There is no extra charge for it.

Fixings are not supplied, because what you need depends on whether you are going into brick, timber or corrugated iron.

Delivery and lead times

Ready to send — already made up. Usually out the door in two to three business days.

Made to order — most pieces are cut and sent within a week. Larger signs, and anything cut from your own photo, take one to three weeks from the day you approve the drawing.

How a piece travels depends on how big it is. Smaller work goes by parcel; anything too big for a box goes by freight, and we quote that with the job so there is no surprise at the end.
